The AY 2024 September Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement Ceremony was held on Friday, September 20 at the West School Building Hall on Mita Campus. This fall, a total of 626 students (363 undergraduate, 62 doctoral, 179 master's, and 22 professional degree program students) marked an important milestone and entered into a new chapter in their lives.
The ceremony began with Vice-President Yoshimitsu Matsuura delivering the incoming class report. This was followed by the conferral of diplomas by President Kohei Itoh to the representative undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, as well as the presentation of the Commendation for Academic Excellence to outstanding undergraduate students in accordance with the Keio University Rules and Regulations for Commendation.
In his address that followed, President Itoh conveyed his belief that in today's increasingly divided society, Keio alumni can play an intermediary role and serve as bridges in a polarized world, contributing to environmental conservation and the healthy development of society. After that, Professor Hideki Sunahara from the Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) gave a congratulatory address and Lianne Bianca Cagalingan, the student representative from the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, responded with a speech on behalf of the graduates. The ceremony then concluded with a rendition of the Alma Mater, The Juku-ka.
Entering into the early days of fall, Mita Campus was awash with the beaming smiles and bright outfits of the graduating students.
